Hantavirus information
Many BEready participants will have seen the news about an outbreak of disease caused by hantavirus. And that a patient in Switzerland has hantavirus and is being treated in hospital in Zürich. The patient was a passenger on the cruise ship, where the outbreak occurred.
As you would expect, the BEready team is following this outbreak very closely.
We would like to make sure that you have access to the current information about hantavirus. The Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) and the World Health Organization have information on their websites. Key points from FOPH are:
- There is currently no danger to the Swiss public
- Hantavirus is transmitted only through close contact
- The FOPH is coordinating with all relevant cantonal, national and international authorities.
